In the first months of 2011, CIA Director Leon Panetta summoned McRaven to a meeting at CIA headquarters to describe the compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan that Panetta believed might be harboring Osama bin Laden, the Al Qaeda leader who orchestrated the attacks on New York and Washington. And that doesnt happen by accident. So now we are working to help the families and to make them resilient, to talk to the wives and the husbands and say, You need to exercise as well.

William McRaven: Journalism to me was really, I hate to say this, but it was kind of a means to an end. But we moved to Texas in 1963, I believe, so I went to elementary school, junior high school, high school and then I was at the University of Texas. Whats going to happen? And that stress and that strain was incredible. So I have been very fortunate. I have got to continue on. The option to quit was always there. So they said, We know this is going to work.
